Recently, the wife of Hasan Imam. Sharmin Ferdous filed the case in the Jhalakathi Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court. The court issued an arrest warrant against the accused. Hasan Imam was jailed after surrendering in court on Monday.
According to the sources in the case, Hasan and Sharmin's marriage was completed in 2002 according to Islamic Shariah. The couple has a five-year-old son named Salman. Hasan also took a lot of money from Sharmin's father to get a job as assistant tax collector in Jhalakathi municipality. But he was often beaten by his wife for not being satisfied. Hasan, meanwhile, pressured Sharmin to bring another Tk 5 lakh dowry from his father's house. On October 7, when he went to his home in the village of Hasan, pleading for him not to take a dowry, he returned Sharmin with his child and abused him.
